Katrina Kaif (born 16 July 1984) is a British Indian actress and former model who appears in Indian films, mainly in the Hindi-language film industry. She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. She was voted the sexiest Asian woman in the world by Eastern Eye in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.Being a British citizen, she works in India on an employment visa.
Kaif made her acting debut with Kaizad Gustad's box office failure Boom. She tasted success in 2007 with Vipul Shah's Namastey London and Anees Bazmee's Welcome. She has since appeared in films like New York (2009) and Rajneeti (2010). While the former earned Kaif her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress nomination, the later emerged as her biggest commercial success so far.

Early life and background of Katrina Kaif:

Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri father, Mohammed Kaif, and an English mother, Suzanne Turquotte, both of whom are British citizens. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Kaif stated once, "my dad, unfortunately, and not out of choice, has had no influence on our upbringing, on our religious or social or moral bearings." Kaif has seven siblings. From Hong Kong, she and her family moved to China, then to Japan. Then from Japan (by boat) to France when she was 8, and also moved to Switzerland, Kraków, Berlin, Belgium, and many other East European countries where she and her family were there for a few months each. Then they moved to Hawaii, and eventually later moved to her mother's home country, England. It is widely speculated that Kaif is from London, when in fact, she only lived there for three years before finally moving to Mumbai.

Indian beautiful actress and model  Katrina Kaif is born on 16^th July, 1984 in Hong Kong.

Her nick name is "Kat". Katrina Kaif has 8 sisters. Her mother is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and father is from Kashmir, India, but who has since acquired British citizenship.

Katrina grew up in Hawaii, but was brought up in London, UK. She started modeling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the tender age of 14, when she was approached for a jewelery campaign. Thereafter she continued modeling in London.

When moving to India, she worked for photographer Atul Kasbekar and did commercials for Fevicol, Lakme and Veet among others. It was the Lakme commercial that got her noticed. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at the price she deserved.

Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie 'Boom'. When she started working in Bollywood she was only of 18 years. Katrina got her first break in Bollywood in movie "Boom", which was offered to her by film-maker Kaizad Gustad. Although her first movie "Boom" was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences.

Her two other Telegu movies "Malliswari" and "Pidugu" did get her noticed. She grossed Rs.70 lakhs for Malliswari - making her top the list of the highest paid actresses during a South Indian movie debut, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.

Besides walking the ramp for several top designers and being on magazine covers, Katrina has also been the stunning face of Estelle jewelery, Lakme, Pantene, Veet, Kodak cameras, L'Oreal, Samsung, LG etc.

She enjoys modeling, acting, dancing, playing chess, watching movies, painting, resting, cooking, going to spas, going to the gym, meeting new people, and getting together with friends.

The famous Rs. 2 lakh ($4,814) worth silver dress she flaunts in the movie "Welcome" was gifted to her by Emilio Pucci.
